Job description
EMC and Product Safety Engineer is responsible for EMC and Product Safety Compliance. More specifically he/she has to:
Identify and mitigate risks in the area of EMC, Safety, government regulatory requirements at all stages of the product development from product inception to end of product life;
Be the subject matter expert for all the Product Safety & EMC issues, works closely with other development engineers (EE, ME, ASIC, FW and ID) and with other disciplines not related to engineering such as Product Planners, Marketing, User Assistance, Legal and Localization to ensure the product meets all expectations for all the markets;
Develop Product Safety & EMC plans and provides resource (headcount and dollars) estimate for each program and manage actual spending;
Obtain Regulatory approvals to meet project specific objectives;
Work with the EMC Manager and other disciplines to improve methods and processes by developing design guidelines, review check lists, procedures, template, gage R&R, etc;
Assist, train and mature Contract Design Manufacturer (CDM) as well as EMC and Safety partners;
Initiate contractual negotiation with EMC vendors and as needed put new contracts in place.
Deliverables
Product EMC/safety spec, test procedure, certification plan, schedule, label artwork and manual, compliance/Agency plan, EMC test summary, signoff for EMC and Safety submittal, coordination with subsidiaries, out-sourcing test set up.
Qualifications
BSEE with 5+ years experience in EMC and Product Safety Engineering for consumer electronic or PC Input Devices.
Familiarity with PS/2, USB interfaces, RF design, EMC and Safety standards.
Familiarity with EMC testing for ITE.
Capability to analyze hardware and firmware designs with an orientation to identify design risks is a plus.
Highly motivated individual with strong project orientation and communication skill preferred.
