The primary responsibility of this position will be to provide the direct technical application support to internal and external customers on Broadcom DSL system products for hardware related issues. This position will also assist in the customer's product design, debugging, testing, production and help customers to solve all the hardware issues during the whole process; provide follow-up support in disseminating technical information on specific applications; and deliver training to customer on specific application.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Deliver technical expertise for customer applications based on Broadcom's Broadband products, consisting of ADSL, ADSL2/2+ and VDSL2, PON systems. Specifically, troubleshoot any hardware/firmware issues discovered in customer's lab. Deliver regular on site support to specific customers
2. Provide technical support for the development and implementation of customer applications dealing with Broadcom DSL products.
3. Provide, present, and interpret design, application, and new product/solution information.
4. Work with customers and internal systems/design engineer to resolve applications issues, including the transfer of technical information inclusive of application notes and reference designs.
5. Provide support to internal and external customers or customer's customer in various test environments.
6. Assists Engineering, Sales and Marketing staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications.
7. Design relevant evaluation boards for internal or customer applications.
8. Participate in the New Product Introduction process, and collecting customer requirements, communicate with system engineers and sales to deliver best solutions for customers.
9. Assist in the development and delivery of technical training classes.
10. Conduct customer visits; attend trade shows, and sales meetings as required.
11. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
BS or MS Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent. 3+ years working experiences.
Good understanding of communications protocols(Ethernet,TCP/IP, ATM/PTM)
Good understanding of DSL protocols(ITUT G992.1/G.992.3/G.992.5/G.993.2, G.994.1,G.997.1, TR067/TR048, TR100)
Experience with schematic/layout design tool and at least one practice project in multiple layers PCB.
Experience with tools/instruments and techniques for board-level system design/debug
Experience with Telecom testing equipment(Line simulator, Noise generator, Traffic generator/analyser)
Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Highly organized and detail oriented. Able to develop project plans.
Ability to work in a team or take on individual responsibility as required.
Experience of working in a high pressure environment and of managing relationships with customers will be an advantage
Experience with VHDL programming for FPGAs and CPLDs is an asset.
Development and debugging experience with VxWorks and/or Embedded Linux Operating Systems is an asset.
Experience with scripting languages(Tcl/Tk,Python)is also an asset.
